“Buttttttttttt DADDDDD!” The little bundle of joy, or known to Gerard and Frank as Jamie squealed, her fists pounding on the table as the nurse exited the room, “I don’t wanna!”
Frankie smiled and looked at Gerard, “She is just like her dad,”
“Which one?”
“You, dip-head,”
Frank had learned to control his mouth around his little girl when she ran around calling everyone a shit bag one day at a family party.
“Shut Up I am not afraid of needles anymore!” The elder retorted.
Frank raised and eyebrow at him, highly doubting that the man had completely gotten over his fear.
“DAD!” the little girl whined, grabbing both men’s attention.
Gerard walked over to her, “The doctor has to do this sweetie, if she doesn’t you could get sick,”
“But dad!” she whined again, Gerard pushed a finger to her mouth silencing her.
“But nothing, now, you don’t want to go to the hospital now do you? They poke even more needles in you!”
She shook her head silently.
“Alright, than, you have to get this, ok?”
She nodded.
“Alright, no more complaining?”
She shook her head.
“That’s my girl,” Gerard smiled and backed away.
The nurse came back in my room with her supplies in hand.
“Alright, I promise this wont hurt,” she rubbed alcohol on the inside of the girl’s elbow,. When she was finished she picked up a large rubber band and wrapped it around her arm.
Gerard could tell that she was becoming more scared, “You want daddy to sing for you?”
She nodded and the nurse prepped the needle.
“And as the fragments of my skull begin to fall….” He began.
As the needle entered her skin, she winced and Gerard cringed and buried his head in the crook of Frank’s neck.
Frank saw the disappointed look that her father had stopped singing and continued the song,
“Fall on your tongue like pixie dust just think happy thoughts And we'll fly home We'll fly home You and I We'll fly home”
By the time he was done, the needle was out and the nurse was putting a band aid on the spot she had recently entered.
“See, that wasn’t so bad was it?”
Jamie shook her head.
